Chinese Teachers Day 93

For all beloved teacher in the world, Durin this wonderful celebration time, along with Taiwan's traditional custom wanna greet you all:

" Great Teachers Day and Happy Moon Festival 2004"

Wishin all the best in the future, for teacher always have the right honour in the face of the world.

Thank you for all the patience and affection you gave us. Without you, all of us will be an uncivilized people.

The minimum requirements for a good teacher according to the 1966 international Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers: "Teaching should be regarded as a profession; it is a form of public service that requires teachers of expert knowledge and specialized skills, acquired and maintained through rigorous study; it calls also for a sense of personal and corporate responsibility for the education and welfare of the pupils in their charge"

Today, we would like to say thank you to teachers, to whom society has given one of the most responsible and sensitive jobs in the world. Thank you for the positive expectations you have of your pupils, who bring their problems but also their hopes into the classroom. We know, for example, that the positive expectations you have of girls’ achievements give an incalculable boost to their full participation in society. Thank you for your skill and your perseverance. Thank you for using your ingenuity for making the classroom a safe and welcoming place for all girls and boys, for respecting their rights, for encouraging their talents, for assuaging their fears, and for building their sense of dignity. Thank you for coming to work every day, despite hardships and, in many cases, physical and political persecution. We salute your courage, commitment and determination. Be assured that there is no substitute for your profession, which deserves the respect and support of everyone.

Something to think about:
Where would we be now if that teacher hadn’t crossed our path, if, demotivated, that teacher had already left the profession?

OCAC Sept 04

This is all the member of OCAC- Shi Da Sept 2004, pic was taken in Dan Shui which means Bland Water. It was raining that day so we canceled our trip to Bali Island. (Remember this island compare to the real Bali Island in Indonesia are totally different - well at least, people speak Chinese here) not many people joined this term, less english speakin people, Indonesian and Thai language is heard everyday.
Some people come here to study and some to play, about everything, it's all coming back to our own motivation to come :) Enjoy Life as young as you can be but remember to enjoy it the time after. Posted by Hello

Mount Yang Ming

This is our trip to the famous Mount Yan Ming which means Shining Sun, we can find lots of naturally made hole filled by boilin sulfur water, there was warm fumes plus cold air - As you can see the smoke behind the pic-, wonderful blend of nature. From here we are able to capture the whole Taipei city, it was facinating, interesting and romantic place to be especially in night time. Recommended for people whom like to enjoy scenery and landscape. Posted by Hello

No Boundaries...

Maybe we've heard this line so many times such as cars, money, power, sex, love in many ways people don't like to set their limit on it. We're a rebellist mamals :) but then have we ever think bout somethin really is no boundary in this life that we might gain. I remembered to one story, enclosed here :

The question: in 1923, who was:
1. President of the largest steel company?

2. President of the largest gas company?
3. President of the New York Stock Exchange?
4. Greatest wheat speculator?
5. Great Bear of Wall Street?

These men were considered some of the worlds most successful of their day. After 80 years passed, the history book asks us, if we know what ultimatelybecame of them? Here are the answers:

1. The president of the largest steel company, Charles Schwab*, died a pauper.
2. The president of the largest gas company, Edward Hopson*, went insane.
3. The president of the NYSE, Richard Whitney*, was released from prison to die at home.
4. The greatest wheat speculator, Arthur Cooger*, died abroad, penniless.
5. The Great Bear of Wall Street, Cosabee Livermore*, also committed suicide.

However, in that same year, 1923, the PGA Champion and the winner of many most important US Open golf tournament, was Gene Sarazen. He played golf until he was 92, died in 1999 at the age of 95. He was financially secure at the time of his death.

My opinion, sport, art and music have no boundaries, whole world will give the same standard even though we might speak a whole different language, life standards, custom, etc. Appreciation was given by International standard comparison. But can money, economics, politics make the idiom of all Master Piece and Unique style for those talent. All of those aren't compared with our own culture and language, our own closed nevironment where it often disguise our opinion about everything.

I hope i have the talent to start with some of that, I was raised with less art appreciation, less sport desire, tone deaf naturally comes to be my blessing :) Work and gets all the money we can have to guarantee our better future was all that matters. I do also have to admit that some sports and art are not well appreciated as they should be in my country. All that experience really close my eyes, influence my opinion, disguise my decision of wonderful short life. I'm losin my sense to somethin that we can called true happiness, everlastin gift. Who should be blame? .... HAHAHAHA.... Start to change your apprecitation, change ur life... we'll never be to old for some good headed changes.

*. All names are not perfectly guaranteed right, had it from many forwarded email. Just take the moral of the story. Good Luck in Life.

Time will bring everythin up...

Been thinkin lately, thanks for all the grace you bring to me, a quarter of my life meant so beautiful. My self, a real disgrace, a dissapointment, I just want to feel love, in this short life that I live in. There’s a hole in my soul. Won't someone please take me home. It's a damn cold night, sleepin alone night and night, tryin to figure out the meanin of this life. I feel like givin all up. I was scared but I just have to wait, time will bring everythin clear... With arms open wide... everythin wil change...

Here without you - 3 Doors Down

A hundred days had made me older since the last time that I saw your pretty face.
A thousand lights had made me colder and I don’t think I can look at this the same
But all the miles had separate, They disappeared now when I’m dreaming of your face.

The miles just keep rolling as the people either way to say hello.
I hear this life is overrated but I hope it gets better as we go.

I’m here without you baby but your still on my lonely mind.
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time.
I’m here without you baby but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl it’s only you and me.

And anywhere I go it gets hard but it won’t take away my love.
And when the last one falls, when it’s all said and done.
It'll get hard but it won’t take away my love...

Disgracing who...?

My deepest symphaty for Indonesia bombing victims...

Sept 2004,
JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- An Islamic Web site, www.islamic-minbar.com (I try it but it won't works), has posted a statement attributed to Jemaah Islamiya, the Southeast Asian arm of al Qaeda, claiming the attack as a suicide operation against Australian interests. Australian Prime Minister John Howard said the car bomb detonated four meters (13 feet) from the embassy's gate, leaving a crater three meters deep.
Laast bombing in the August 5, 2003, Marriott Hotel Jakarta that killed at least 12 people and in the October 12, 2002, Bali nightclub bombings that killed more than 200 people, Authorities also blamed those attacks on Jemaah Islamiya. Police were searching for a group member also believed to be involved in those attacks.
---

I also felt sorry for all Indonesian citizen, where all around the world see Indonesian people as their country crisis describe them. I hope all the bad things won't affect the world acceptance to whom ever you are.

For me, where ever I go, to whom ever I met I bring my own dignity, my family names, my country and my race culture, whether I like it or not.

I'm sick of people's expectations and prejudice, leaves me tired all the time. "people got me questioning, where is the love..." Why do we have to fight, why do we have to blame each other (It could be someone else, why em?), religion is not the reason for killin, it suppose to bring us peace and the comfort of this D*mn life. Why is everything so confusing...

Forgive us, Lord. Take this curse away from us.

Study Chinese Radicals Character for our future

Just click on the title or link on the right to see all the chinese radicals character that will really help you -for sure- studyin chinese character/caligraphy class, here's some web page supported by students U.Oregon, Save it off-line, read it slowly if you want or you can print screen, which's lot more easier.

Have a great time of studyin.... Good luck.

I'm so grateful...

Can't sleep last night, Sept 7, actually i'm too afraid for my new class, i knew that I's on the 14th rank out of 15 students in our class (14th rank from 60's student this term), thinkin bout how hard it would be stayin in the same class with some students that probably speak chinese with their parents since they're born, facing the same subject with student that have been going out with the locals(he even can tease local girl in chinese), learnin with people that have been studyin chinese for more than 2 years and many more, I was so afraid to face everything tomorrow.

I'm abundantly happy being able to pass the class today, facing all my bad thought with grace :) with my humble heart, i give thanks to JC, all my friend, teacher, family that keep on helpin and supportin me. The teacher was great, she speaks fast but usin many well known chinese character which really helps, and if there's some hesistation on our expression, she'll instantly notice and explain it with patient :). I know for sure i'm the worst in class with chinese character but nothin is imposibble, i came to Taiwan to study, and i'll study more in higher pressure. Wish me luck, OK.

Wishin all the best for every one, keep on goin, don't give up, nothing is impossible or even we can say "Impossible is nothing".

My Last Term here....

My last subsidized term at OCAC, probably my last time in taiwan in this decade.... We have 60 some students, the majority comes from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, some europian and only 2 Americans. Totally different from last term, now is more quiet, 20 years old probably the average, only 7th and 8th floor are used -last term, we used 4 till 8, full, and very noisy every night-. As a start, it was a nice environment to have. Not forgettin breakfast at 8th floor, so i don't have to wake up earlier just to take some meal.

Stay in 809(ext. 1869), My room mate, one from Austria - Vienna, Kevin -AGAIN???- where he always say 'In my country there's no kangaroo and Koala' the other one is hmm.... still hard to remember his Thai name, but he told us to call him 'Ball', what an easy alternative :) As some may already know Kevin, advance level of chinese speakin, but intermediate level of characters writtin. Very lazy to remember new character, always open a dictionary, and a big need of P-A-R-T-Y, dance and blablabla.. ahhaha... -just kiddin, Kev-. Ball is quiet, baby face look for a 24 years old, polite and clean, rarely at room. Last night, we told him the misery of my last term, where my two room mates kept on speakin Chinese which i don't understand, so we told him to talk with us, and how we don't want the same bitterness in me, He's started slowly but sure talkin chinese. Cia You everyone..... Study, all the best for our future.

We had our the placement test today, all will be devided to 4 class, I know some people that definiately will be in the fourth class, Kevin for sure(my ex and still room mate) and blablabla... with all my humble heart, aggresive and high expectation i do really hope that i can make it to the fourth class, to make my mom, Lord JC, friends and colleague proud. Then there was 2.somethin PM, two from the last term teacher came to me and ask 'How far have u been studied? until which chapter? blablabla' ..................Hoorraaayyy, they told me that I got enough score to make it there, i was so happy, overjoy maybe describe it more.
Met the new teacher today, a girl, where have been teachin chinese for more than 10 years and have been travellin to many country of the world... wow... speaks Taiwanese, Chinese, English, Japanese, and a little bit of France. Way to go teacher.... Lookin forward to start the class and hope for all the best in my studies.

He's comin back...

It's about my last term room mate, Edward Wang, in the late august i wrote,
'Eddie was leavin, we already looked so sad, cried in heart, some friend actually cried, bla4x..... cause we know it's hard for us to meet again in the future, he's a very attentative to his work and looks like really up set if we bothered him, so we know how hard is the chance. and there he goes to the airport but then he came back after 3 hour.... his flight were canceled because of the typhoon that came to Taiwan, we're so happy havin him back, then spent some more time walked around, took some '503 member' sticker photo for the last time, blablabla.....

After 3days, then again he went to airport, we're sad again, all the sad ceremony happened again...... but we did say ' please don't come back ' but after 4hour, he came back, he forgot the passport, it was still in the office hahaa... funny huh..... It was nice havin him back, but it also barrier for me to study........ where he was a bit weird after that, said somethin bout destiny, blablabla...... Scary things..... -if only, he know my JC- '

But yesterday, Sept 6, I read my email, he asked me not to get too attached with my new room mate, cause he's comin back -A.G.A.I.N???- hahhaa... what a coinsidence, hahhaa... i immidiately called Kev, can't really believe that we're gonna go to coffee shop, lybrary, museum, hikin place, raftin place, bar/club to study chinese again... :) Can't wait to have him back, he's a very diligent person, it really give us a big influence to study more. (F4ggie:) -just kiddin Eddie)

Who'll make the first step...

The first day, went to Wendy's room (Lousiana-US), there were these 2 girl from the same country like me, said Hi.... but they just stare at me with a very weird look, bent a little but no answer to me... well OK... I've done my part.... was talkin to wendy for half an hour with closed door in English, did try to start a conversation with her room mate, I feel bad not to chat, espeacially if we're come from the same country. But both of them just gave me her back to saw....... not even a single word.....

After that, went out for dinner with wendy, and asked her, why she didn't introduce me to them, cause i felt strange, then she said she forgot one of their name, so beat it...... But then she told me that her room mate, asked her "Are u ussualy bring guys to ur room?" hahhaa.. we're laughing, what's wrong with that, we're not doin anythin..... and there's nothin between us.

After dinner, went back to her room, and without hesitation started the conversation with one of em, said Hi.. my name is Senno, we come from the same country... She just replied with a smile and her name, just like that, there again i got her back to see. Didn't have the chance to talk to the other one cause she's on the phone.
A day after, heard that Wendy's room mate were complainin that I don't admit my self where i from, and don't wanna talk to them, but then she admit that she was complainin bout me in my language where i apparently I didn't hear while i was there.. What the he** is wrong with every one? I played my part. I'm not a very open guy also, why do i have to make all the first step? So funny, the gossip were movin around until she talked to my friend and introduced to me, hahhaa.. we laughed.....

Now, everythin is better, we did have our lunch on the same table and some jokes to break the ice.... Hahaha.... Wanna tell every one that i rarely make the first move, so please make it first, cause i'm a very shy guy, grew up in a closed eastern culture. Hahaha.... No Holdin hand before a statement of Boy and Girl friend, no kissin until marriage.... LOL. Just jokin guys.....

International Chinese or Lokal Chinese

I'm so down.... that's the first line i want to say.... I spent my school break studin chinese on my own, few like 4hour a day because there's nothing much you can do beside play hide and seek with A Pek(dorm maintenance), try not to pay rent fee...haaaa.. pretty sad, but it's true...... So many people done that and still doing it, some came and put lugagge in my room, so now it's so damn full...
I worked part time at Shi Da office, helpin them packin things, put some advertisement paper, passin tissue on the street... it was fine, but then when you start doing it, your evil mind will start to bother by givin you all the better things you can do, which you'll be very lazy to do it after all..... Why is this happenin? why are we never get enough? why's the world demand is so high? why some *ss l*cker have all the luck and be the wealth???
I was frustrated today, helped the office people doin somthin then when she started a conversation, some daily use chinese word that i spoke they didn't understand.... gggrrrhhh.... Help me, Lord......
Why's some understand and some don't? ......Why????
